Mastering Your Exit from Qatar
Leaving a job in Qatar is a big milestone. Whether you're moving to a new role in **Doha Festival City** or heading back home, knowing exactly what your "End of Service" package looks like gives you peace of mind.
What is End of Service (ESB)?
While many people use the term "Gratuity" and "End of Service" interchangeably, the End of Service Benefit is technically the total package you receive. This includes your **statutory gratuity** (the 21 days per year) PLUS any **pending salary**, **leave encashment**, and often a **repatriation ticket** (if you are leaving the country).
Calculation Rules
As per the **Qatar Ministry of Labour**, the formula is simple: Your last basic salary divided by 30 (to get the daily rate), then multiplied by 21 days, and then by each year of service. Any pending annual leave should also be paid out at that same daily rate.
Common Questions
- Notice Period: You are usually entitled to your full salary during your notice period.
- Repatriation Ticket: If you are an expatriate and your employment ends, the employer is legally required to provide a ticket back to your home country, unless you transfer your sponsorship.
- Deductions: Be aware that any outstanding loans with Qatari banks or advance payments from the company might be deducted from this final amount.
Important: Ensure you receive your "Clearance Certificate" and "Experience Certificate" before your final flight – they are essential for your future career!
